Abstract
BrightView Technologies unique grayscale lithographic process, microscopic optical structures generated on a large format, enables countless products with applications in many fields including Consumer Electronics. We will offer an overview of our technology followed by discussions with emphasis on applications in Consumer Electronics. Topics covered will include beam shaping for AR DLP/LCoS based display, direction turning micro-lens array (MLA) for Lambertian profiled input beam, cell phone flash optics, cell phone ambient light sensor optics, edge-lit back light unit (BLU) luminance enhancement, and others.
Dr. Bing Shen – Fellow at BrightView Technologies
Dr. Bing Shen has 30 years research and development experience in optical and electronic fields. Prior to joining Bright View, Bing held multiple lead technical positions at companies from startups to large established corporations. Some of his notable inventions include: the first movable CMOS-process-made MEMS mirror device recognized by “EE Times”; 2D tileable x-ray detector architectures, widely adopted in modern computed tomography systems; large scale integrated micro thermoelectric device made by an IC (integrated circuit) fabrication process; alignment-free micro optics achieving numerous highly desirable optical functions for applications covering display, 3D sensing and lighting.
Bing earned his BS degree from Zhejiang University and his MS degree and PhD from University of Alberta.
