Presentation Abstract
Smart glasses are pushing optical metrology beyond the lab, demanding measurement systems that deliver high-level accuracy with the speed and robustness required in high-volume manufacturing. Traditional setups provide precision but often struggle with automation, throughput, and repeatability under production constraints.
This talk explores engineering approaches for scaling metrology to smart-glasses manufacturing, including waveguide, eyepiece, and light-engine image quality as well as pupil evaluation. Methods for defect detection and classification will be presented alongside strategies to increase units-per-hour (UPH) through parallelized architectures and optimized workflows. The role of data-driven analytics and process monitoring will also be highlighted as tools to improve yield and reduce cost of quality.
The discussion emphasizes how optical engineers can translate laboratory rigor into scalable, production-ready test methodologies—bridging the gap between research precision and manufacturing efficiency.
