Tony Caldwell

Tony Caldwell is the Executive Director for the Society for Information Display. SID is a non-profit association of scientist and engineers focused on the display industry. Its mission is to encourage the scientific, literary and educational advancement of information display and its allied arts and sciences. Mr. Caldwell is a seasoned professional, bringing leadership skills, knowledge of and experience in operations, financial management, Information Technology, supply chain management, project management and customer centric teams to his position as SID Executive Director. Tony believes the future of SID rests on its ability to be flexible enough to move in multiple directions while addressing changes in the Display Industry. To that end, SID is developed value-added services to meet the changes happening in customer profiles. At SIDHQ the focus is on three areas; customer service, member satisfaction and association growth.

Prior to joining SID, Tony worked in the public sector. He held positions as COO, CAO and Executive Director in Large Housing Authorities in California and Washington. As Executive Director, Tony turned around a distressed troubled housing authority in the state of Washington. Tony successfully re-financed the housing authority’s debt, identified significant sources of new revenue, reduce expenses, create operational and tactical plans, produce balanced budgets, rebrand the organization, move the agency from a troubled status to high performer in the industry, and worked, with his board, to create and adopt a five-year strategic plan. Senator Patty Murray, of Washington State, personally thanked him for his efforts in saving and revitalizing the Kitsap County Housing Authority.

Before joining the public sector, Tony worked in Silicon Valley for numerous leading-edge technology companies focused on the dotcom industry. He held senior management positions in manufacturing, materials, information technology and operations. As Director of Information Technology, he was responsible for planning, directing, and implementing global IT strategy, EMS/CM relationship strategy, corporate services and facilities in a start-up environment for the telecommunications market.

Tony holds a B.S. in Economics from Santa Clara University and a M.S. in Information Technology Systems Management from the University of Southern California. He has been an adjunct professor at Chapman University, Monterey campus, and at Golden Gate University where he taught Information Technology and Business Management classes for both institutions.
