Highlights From Display Week 2021

Radu Reit, Paul Semenza and Sihui He

Presentation Abstract

During this special BASID seminar, we have some prominent experts in the field come in to give their take on Display Week 2021.

Radu Reit, Chair of Marketing with the SID, will cover the successful outcomes of Virtual Display Week 2021 and how SID was able to reach an audience of more than 10,000 for the first time using the new and improved virtual platform.

Paul Semenza will summarize display market updates and highlight industry and technology developments presented at Display Week.

Sihui He will summarize the many exciting developments in the field of near-eye displays presented at SID Display Week 2021.

Radu Reit

Dr. Radu Reit is the Chair of Marketing for the Society for Information Display (SID), overseeing the marketing strategy and communication for SID and its world leading industrial trade show Display Week.
 
Currently, Dr. Reit works at Apple as a Display Engineering Program Manager with a focus on small displays and optical materials development. Prior, his work focused on novel optical films for application in foldable displays as CTO of Ares Materials.
 
He holds more than 10 patents in the application of polysulfide thermosets as display optical films and novel flexible display manufacturing techniques.

Paul Semenza

Paul Semenza is Chair of the Department of Engineering Management and Leadership at Santa Clara University and an independent consultant with expertise in market research, strategic planning, and technology assessment of flat panel displays, semiconductors, and flexible electronics.
 
In 2015, Paul helped to found NextFlex, a public-private institute focused on flexible hybrid electronics manufacturing, and served as Director of Commercialization until 2018.
 
Previously, Paul was President, Technology Analyst Business for The NPD Group, where he was responsible for the DisplaySearch and Solarbuzz businesses, and served as Vice President of Display Research for iSuppli Corporation and Stanford Resources.
 
Paul has been a program officer at the Computer Science and Telecommunications Board of the National Research Council, an analyst for the US Congress Office of Technology Assessment (OTA), and a member of technical staff at The Analytic Sciences Corporation. Paul received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and M.S. in Electro-optics from Tufts University, and a Masters in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School. 

Sihui He

Sihui He is an optical scientist in Facebook Reality Labs, developing near-eye displays. She started her career in near-eye displays in Microsoft HoloLens, then continued in DigiLens focusing on augmented reality (AR) waveguide design. She received her Ph.D. in optics from University of Central Florida, with her dissertation on liquid crystal-based biosensors for the detection of bile acids.
